This route is perfect for hiking and biking, and is rarely visited, giving travelers a unique glimpse into the authentic life of Andean communities. From the Lares Pass (4,470 m), we descend into the depths of the Sacred Valley.

Along the way, we’ll pass peaceful Andean villages, where locals in traditional dress live in stone houses with thatched roofs, surrounded by herds of llamas and alpacas. As we descend, the landscape transforms into a colorful valley with breathtaking mountain views.

Itinerary
06:00 am – Departure from Cusco

We meet early in the morning and travel by private transport for about 1 hour to the peaceful town of Calca in the Sacred Valley.

10:30 am – Start of the Ride from Abra de Lares (4,470 m)

Our biking adventure begins at Abra de Lares, also known as “Puerto de Lares”, guided by our expert. Surrounded by high-altitude Andean landscapes with snow-capped peaks and golden grasslands, the scenery here is breathtaking.

Descent through the Andean Canyons

As we descend, the terrain turns into a canyon where we’ll see alpacas, vicuñas, and llamas, as well as rural villages, farms, and pre-Inca ruins known as “Chulpas”, highlighting the historical significance of the region.

Typical Lunch and Rest

After visiting the archaeological site, we will enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch and take a short rest before continuing.

Arrival at Machacancha Hot Springs

We continue cycling until we reach the natural thermal baths of Machacancha, where you can relax and soak in the healing waters before heading back.
