Embark on a two-day adventure to the spectacular Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world and home to the majestic Andean condor. Your journey begins with pickup from your hotel in Arequipa, passing the slopes of Chachani Volcano and entering the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve, a natural habitat for wild vicuñas—famous for producing the world’s finest fiber. Along the route, you’ll witness the highland wetlands of Toccra, where wild birds, llamas, and alpacas roam freely, and continue to Patapampa (4,800 m.a.s.l.), the highest point of the trip offering panoramic views of snowcapped peaks.

Upon arrival in the town of Chivay, you’ll enjoy a local lunch and check into your hotel. In the evening, unwind with a soak in the relaxing thermal waters of La Calera Hot Springs (optional), followed by dinner in the charming highland town. This experience combines breathtaking Andean landscapes, wildlife, and cultural immersion—perfect for those seeking both nature and comfort on their journey through southern Peru.

Day 1 – Arequipa – Chivay – Hot Springs

08:00 – 08:30 AM: We begin with hotel pickup in Arequipa and head toward the Colca Canyon via Yura. The journey passes along the base of Chachani Volcano and through Pampa Cañahuas in the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. We’ll stop for 10–15 minutes to observe wild vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas in their natural habitat.

Next, we stop at 3,800 m.a.s.l. to enjoy a coca tea and help with altitude acclimatization before continuing to the highest point at 4,800 m.a.s.l., the Volcanoes Viewpoint. From there, we descend to the town of Chivay.

01:00 PM: Arrival in Chivay and buffet lunch featuring regional and local dishes. Afterwards, we check in at your selected hotel.

03:00 PM: Optional visit to the Chacapi Hot Springs, where you can relax in pools with temperatures between 35°C and 38°C. After a refreshing soak, we return to the hotel.

In the evening, enjoy a traditional dinner accompanied by a folk music and dance show. Overnight in Chivay.

Day 2 – Cruz del Cóndor – Villages – Return to Arequipa

05:30 AM: Early breakfast at the hotel, followed by departure to the Colca Canyon to visit the famous Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint. With luck, you’ll witness the flight of the majestic Andean condor, a highlight of the trip and a spectacular photo opportunity.

On the return to Chivay, we stop at the traditional villages of Pinchollo, Maca, and Yanque, known for their beautiful colonial churches and vibrant culture. We’ll also visit the Antahuilque and Choquetico viewpoints, which offer views of pre-Inca tombs, models carved into stone, and the valley’s stunning terraced fields.

12:00 PM: Lunch in Chivay (not included). Afterward, we begin the return journey to Arequipa.

05:00 PM: Approximate arrival in Arequipa. End of our Colca Canyon adventure.

The “Colca Canyon 2 Days” tour was a fantastic way to experience the beauty of one of Peru’s most stunning landscapes in a short time. I loved watching the Andean condors soar and exploring the charming villages along the canyon. The tour was well-organized and balanced, giving me time to enjoy the natural scenery without feeling rushed. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, sharing interesting stories about the area. I’d definitely recommend this tour for anyone wanting a quick yet memorable Colca Canyon experience.
