Day 1: Transfer to Tambopata River – Monte Amazónico Collpa Chuncho

We will start early in the morning with a 2-hour 4×4 vehicle journey to the Tambopata River. Upon arrival at the embarkation point, we’ll navigate by boat to Monte Amazónico Collpa Chuncho Lodge, where we’ll stay. After a welcome briefing and room assignment, we’ll enjoy lunch.

In the afternoon, we’ll go for a short jungle walk. Our guide will give us an introduction to the rainforest, where we may encounter amphibians, reptiles, mammals, and a variety of insects in their natural habitat. After the hike, we return to the lodge to relax, have dinner, and rest for the night.

Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick Visit – Return to Puerto Maldonado

We will wake up very early to take a 1.5-hour boat ride to the famous Macaw Clay Lick, one of the largest in the world. Along the way, we may spot capybaras, tapirs, caimans, many bird species, and possibly even a jaguar.

At the clay lick, we’ll witness colorful macaws (red, green, and blue) gathering to feed on mineral-rich clay, a behavior known as geophagy. After enjoying this natural spectacle and taking photos, we will return to the lodge for breakfast and some rest.

Later in the morning, we’ll take a short walk through the lodge’s botanical garden with our guide, who will explain the local flora and its uses. Finally, we’ll begin the return trip by boat and 4×4 back to Puerto Maldonado.

The “Macaw Clay Lick – Chuncho Tour 2 Days” was an incredible wildlife experience. Watching the vibrant macaws gather at the clay lick was absolutely mesmerizing and a highlight of my trip. The peaceful jungle setting and the knowledgeable guides made the whole experience feel intimate and special. Spending two days in such a unique environment allowed me to really connect with nature. I highly recommend this tour for anyone who loves birds and wants a memorable Amazon adventure.
