2-Day Inca Trail Tour – Experience the Magic of the Short Inca Trail

Dreaming of walking the ancient paths of the Inca Empire but short on time? The 2-day Short Inca Trail is the perfect option. On this unique experience, you’ll hike a scenic and historic section of the famous Inca Trail, surrounded by mountain landscapes, ancient ruins like Wiñay Wayna, and the lush high jungle of Cusco.

On the second day, the adventure culminates with an unforgettable entrance to Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate (Inti Punku) — just like the ancient Incan pilgrims once did. This hike is ideal for those seeking a rewarding yet accessible trek that blends culture, nature, and the thrill of reaching one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Km 104 – Wiñaywayna – Inti Punku – Aguas Calientes

We begin with pickup from your hotel in Cusco at 5:30 am and transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo. From there, we board the train to Km 104, the starting point of our trek. After a quick stop at the Chachabamba and Choquesuysuy archaeological sites, we ascend gradually through lush cloud forest with views of waterfalls, orchids, and the Sacred Valley.

After 3 hours, we arrive at Wiñaywayna (2,650 m / 8,694 ft), a beautiful Inca site with agricultural terraces and temples. After a guided tour and box lunch, we continue toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where we’ll get our first panoramic view of Machu Picchu.

We then descend to Machu Picchu itself and take a shuttle to Aguas Calientes, where we’ll check into a comfortable hotel. Optional visit to the local hot springs or explore the town and enjoy dinner in a cozy local restaurant.
