Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Checacupe – Quesiuno – Hampatuyoc – Pampa Camp

We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 5:00 AM in our private transport for a 3-hour drive to the trailhead. Along the way, we’ll stop in the town of Checacupe to explore an ancient Inca/Colonial bridge before reaching Quesiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 ft).

Our hike begins toward Hampatuyoc, taking about 1.5 hours until we reach our lunch spot. After lunch, we’ll continue hiking uphill for about 3.5 more hours until we arrive at Pampa Camp (4,885 m / 16,026 ft). In the afternoon, enjoy tea time and popcorn near a stunning glacial peak and the Rainbow Mountain range.

Day 2: Pampa Camp – Vinicunca Pass – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco

Today, we will enjoy the most beautiful views of Rainbow Mountain. In the early morning, we ascend through deep red hills toward Vinicunca Pass (5,020 m / 16,466 ft), where we’ll have our first stunning panoramic views of the colored mountains.

We then begin our descent along the other side of the mountain, with breathtaking vistas of glacial peaks, lakes, and valleys. At the end of the hike, our private van will be waiting to drive us back to Cusco, where we’ll drop you off at your hotel.

The 2-day Rainbow Mountain Vinicunca trek was an unforgettable adventure. The first day took us through stunning Andean landscapes, with herds of alpacas and breathtaking views of the Ausangate mountain.
