This is a spectacular full-day mountain biking adventure near Cusco. Pickup will take place around 8:30 a.m. as we leave the ancient capital of the Inca Empire and head toward the town of Chinchero, located on the highlands overlooking the Sacred Valley.

From there, we’ll begin our exhilarating ride through the stunning landscapes of the Andes, passing through remote communities, farmlands, and some of the most iconic Inca archaeological sites.

Welcome to the Maras and Moray Biking Tour!

We’ll begin with an exciting downhill ride to Moray, an impressive archaeological complex showcasing the advanced agricultural techniques developed by the Incas. Next, we’ll head toward the Maras Salt Mines, a stunning network of thousands of salt pools terraced along the mountainside. These pre-Inca salt pans are still in use today and offer a striking visual experience — a true testament to ancestral ingenuity.

Itinerary
Start of the Tour – Departure from Cusco

We depart from Cusco in the morning and head toward the archaeological site of Moray for our first stop.

Visit to Moray – Agricultural Experimentation Terraces

At Moray, we will have a guided tour to understand the importance of this Inca site and its circular terraces used for crop experimentation.

Stop in Maras – Lunch Break

We’ll continue to the colonial town of Maras, where we’ll pause for a relaxing lunch break.

Descent by Bike to the Maras Salt Mines

After lunch, we begin our downhill ride to the famous Salt Mines of Maras, an ancient pre-Inca site still in operation today.

Final Descent to Pichingoto Bridge

We continue descending by bike toward the Sacred Valley, ending the route at the Pichingoto bridge with stunning views of valleys and snow-capped peaks.

Return to Cusco

In the afternoon, we return to Cusco by transport to conclude the tour.

The Maras – Moray biking tour was a fantastic full-day adventure! Cycling through the Sacred Valley’s beautiful landscapes gave me a great mix of nature and culture. The ride took us to the stunning circular terraces of Moray and the breathtaking salt mines of Maras, both truly unique places. The trails were fun and varied, with just the right level of challenge.
