Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes

Our 3-day, 2-night Machu Picchu bus tour begins when our agency, VIAJES PUMA, picks you up from your hotel or meeting point between 6:00 a.m. and 6:15 a.m.
We begin the scenic tour at 6:30 a.m., passing through various villages and climatic zones, from the Andes to the edge of the jungle.
We will stop at Huamanmarca for a delicious regional buffet lunch.
After lunch, we continue to Hidroelectrica, where we begin a 3-hour walk toward the town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu town).
Upon arrival, our guide will help you check into your hotel with private bathroom and hot water.
In the evening, you may optionally visit the hot springs in Aguas Calientes (extra cost S/.20.00).
This concludes the first day of the Machu Picchu by Bus adventure.

Day 2: Visit to the Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu

We wake up around 4:00 AM and start our hike at 4:30 AM toward Machu Picchu, which takes approximately 1.5 hours.
The goal is to arrive early to witness the sunrise over the Inca citadel.
We’ll enjoy a 2-hour guided tour through the most important sites including the Main Plaza, Circular Tower, Solar Clock, Royal Quarters, Temple of the Three Windows, and the Royal Tombs.
After the guided tour, you will have free time to explore more or optionally climb Huayna Picchu Mountain (extra cost USD $60.00).
After visiting Machu Picchu, you must return on foot to Aguas Calientes and then continue to Hidroelectrica, where our vehicle will be waiting to take us to Santa Teresa.
There, we spend the second night and you will have free time in the afternoon to enjoy the Cocalmayo hot springs.
This concludes day two of the Machu Picchu by Bus tour.

Day 3: Zip Line Adventure – Return to Cusco

At 8:30 AM, we depart for the Potrero (Huadquiña) mountain for our Zip Line/Canopy adventure, which lasts around 2.5 hours.
A specialized guide will provide all necessary safety equipment as you cross through multiple cables suspended in the air.
After this thrilling activity, we return to our Santa Teresa office, where you will have free time for lunch.
At 3:30 PM, our bus picks you up for the return trip to Cusco, arriving around 9:30 PM.
This concludes the 3-day, 2-night Machu Picchu by Bus tour.

The “Machu Picchu by Bus – 3 Days” tour was an unforgettable adventure. Traveling by bus gave me the chance to enjoy the stunning landscapes along the way and really soak in the natural beauty of the region. Spending three days allowed me to explore Machu Picchu thoroughly without feeling rushed. The guide was knowledgeable and made the history come alive. Staying overnight near Aguas Calientes was perfect to rest before visiting the citadel early in the morning. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a relaxed but immersive Machu Picchu experience.
