Experience a thrilling high-altitude adventure with the Salkantay Bike Tour to Machu Picchu – a perfect combination of adrenaline and breathtaking Andean landscapes. Designed for adventure seekers, this 4-day tour blends the best of mountain biking and trekking, culminating in a visit to the iconic Machu Picchu. Along the way, you’ll discover remote communities, camp under starry skies, and witness the powerful energy of the Andes from a truly different perspective.

Itinerary
Day 1: Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lagoon

We will pick you up from your hotel and travel by bus for about 3 hours to Mollepata (2,700 m), where we’ll stop for breakfast, restroom use, and any last-minute purchases. We then continue to Sayllapata, the starting point of the tour. From here, we’ll use mountain bikes to descend to Soraypampa for lunch. After lunch, we hike to the stunning Humantay Lagoon. In the afternoon, we continue hiking for 2 hours to Soyrococha (4,400 m), our campsite for the night.

Day 2: Salkantay Excursion

We start very early with breakfast at 5:30 am and begin our adventure at 7:30 am. A 40-minute hike takes us to the Salkantay Pass (4,600 m), where the real adrenaline begins: a 3-hour downhill mountain bike descent to Chaullay. After a short bike check, we continue for another 2 hours to La Playa for lunch, and finally ride to Santa Teresa where we spend the night. Optional visit to the Cocalmayo hot springs (not included).

Day 3: Cloud Forest Adventure

After breakfast at 6:30 am, we begin with a 2-hour zip line tour, followed by a biking descent to Hidroelectrica where we’ll enjoy lunch. We then hike for about 2 hours through beautiful jungle scenery to reach Aguas Calientes, where we will spend the night.

Day 4: Machu Picchu – Cusco

After breakfast, we’ll take the first bus up to Machu Picchu (25 minutes uphill). A guided tour (about 2 hours) introduces you to the most important areas of the Inca citadel. After the tour, you’ll have free time to explore or optionally climb Huayna Picchu (must be reserved in advance). Return to Aguas Calientes on foot or by bus (optional), and board the train back to Ollantaytambo. Our staff will be waiting at the station to transfer you to your hotel in Cusco.

  • Return: Train to Ollantaytambo and transport to Cusco

The Salkantay biking to Machu Picchu 4 days tour was an amazing mix of adrenaline and stunning nature. Starting with biking through the mountains was such a fun and exciting way to begin the journey. The landscapes were breathtaking, and every day brought something new – waterfalls, cloud forests, and ancient paths. Reaching Machu Picchu at the end felt like the perfect reward. The guides were super friendly and made the whole trip smooth and enjoyable. I highly recommend it if you adventure and want to see a different side of the Andes
