With Viajes Puma, we will embark on the Choquequirao Trek Peru starting with private transportation from our accommodation in Cusco. We will drive through Curahuasi and along the edge of the Sacred Valley. Our first stop will be at the Capuliyoq viewpoint, where deep canyons and snow-capped peaks surround us. From there, we will hike down a narrow trail into the Apurímac River canyon.

Then we’ll pass cloud forest sections, rocky paths, and wild orchids as we descend toward Playa Rosalina. The sound of rushing water and the scent of native herbs will fill the air. After crossing the Apurímac River, we’ll climb toward Santa Rosa. There, we’ll spend the night and prepare for the climb to Choquequirao.

Our second day will start with an early breakfast and a steep trail to Maranpata. Surrounded by mountain cliffs, this village marks the gateway to Choquequirao. We’ll hike mixed terrain until reaching the majestic ruins of Choquequirao. A professional guide will lead a complete guided tour through temples, terraces, and Inca culture.

Later we’ll return to Maranpata and spend the night beneath the stars. The third day will take us back through the Apurímac canyon. There we plan to hike down to Playa Rosalina and climb to Capuliyoq. This long day of hiking will end with our final campsite above the valley.

On the last day, we’ll enjoy stunning morning views and start our return to Cusco. Our transport will drop us near Plaza San Francisco. This Choquequirao Trek 4 Days offers silence, scenery, and untouched Inca ruins.

Day 1: Cusco – Curahuasi – Capuliyoq – Chikisqa – Santa Rosa

The adventure begins with leaving Cusco early in the morning at 4:30 AM and driving through the Sacred Valley toward Curahuasi. The road will offer dramatic views of canyons, farmland, and cloud-kissed peaks. After breakfast, we will continue past Cachora until we reach Capuliyoq at 2,900 meters of altitude. Here, we will meet our guides, muleteers, and porters.

From Capuliyoq, we’ll hike downhill for two hours along a narrow, dusty trail. Mountain air will fill our lungs, and condors might fly above the Apurímac Canyon. Then we’ll stop for lunch at Chikisqa, a green valley filled with fruit trees and warm breezes. After resting, we plan to cross the Apurímac River at Playa Rosalina and begin a two-hour uphill climb.

The path to Santa Rosa winds past waterfalls, hummingbirds, and jungle-like vegetation. We’ll arrive at camp in time for dinner, surrounded by towering cliffs and distant river sounds. Tonight, we’ll rest and prepare for our first full ascent toward Choquequirao trail.

This remote community offers wide views of the Apurímac Valley and surrounding cliffs. After a short break, we’ll continue toward Choquequirao.

The trail to the ruins will take about two hours across uneven terrain. The path will pass native flowers, birds, and panoramic drop-offs. Upon arrival, our professional guide will lead a full tour of the ceremonial center, terraces, and plazas.

After lunch near the site, we’ll return to Maranpata to camp. The stars will shine bright, and the silence will surround us. We will sleep in the shadow of ancient Inca walls and wild mountains.
